Flood Awareness Seminar

Would you be in over your head if your house flooded? Standard homeowners insurance polices do not cover losses due to floods.

Garland, however, is a participant in the National Flood Insurance program, which makes it possible for property owners to obtain federally backed flood insurance.  This insurance is available to any owner of insurable property in Garland.  Tenants may also insure their personal property against flood loss.

Learn about these and other flood issues at the Flood Awareness Seminar.

The City of Garland Engineering Department in partnership with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) will host a Flood Awareness Seminar on Thursday, March 6, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., at City Hall Council Chambers, located at 200 N. Fifth Street.

A series of programs will be presented for mortgage lenders, insurance agents, and members of the general public.  Registration is required and can be made by calling 972-205-2170.  Registration fees are $30 per person for agents and $25 per person for lenders and must be received in advance of the seminar.

Complimentary admission is available for members of the general public, but registration is required.
